Ramakrishna Beach, Visakhapatnam

The Ramakrishna Beach is located along the Coast line of Vizag. It is one of the most visited places in the whole of Andhra Pradesh, there are many reasons for it. The beach is popular due to its crystal clear water and pristine clean beach. There are generally high tides and the beach is termed not suitable for swimming, yet there are plenty of activities that engage the visitors and keep them entertained. Ramakrishna Beach is named after the Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama which is right across the beach. It is a natural marvel on the Bay of Bengal and is adjoining the Lawson’s Bay Beach. It offers beautiful sunrise and sunset and offers mesmerizing views along the coast.

The beach is known or highly popular due to another main reason which is it withholding the INS Kurusura submarine museum. The submarine is India’s fourth submarine which was a participant in the 1971 Indo-Pakistan war. It is a must visit destination of the city, as the ship, even after it has been decommissioned receives the navy’s “ dressing ship” honor which is awarded only to the ships which are active. It is a part of the goodwill visit to many countries as it has been a participant to the naval exercises. There is also a war memorial along the beach side near the museum which is dedicated to the brave soldier who laid down their lives during the war; it is known as the Victory at Sea.

The beach has a very popular Kali temple dedicated to the goddess Kali which is right on the face of the beach. It has a beautiful idol and has quiet and serene atmosphere inside the premises. The tourists pour in large numbers to get the blessing and experience the wholeness’ of the divinity.

There are large numbers of roadside eateries and restaurant where one can savor on the delicious local and Indian cuisine. There is a great variety of seafood in these places. While at the Ramakrishna beach one gets to see the view of distant hills that surrounds the city, but that is not what one gets attracted to when here. The beautiful vistas keep the eyes locked to the view.

Huge care and attention is being provided to the maintenance and cleanliness of the beach. The beach is jointly and in huge co-operation being developed by the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation and the Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority.
